Redondo Beach is a great city and an awesome place to live. As great as it is, it may not be perfect for every buyer so we occassionally want to introduce our visitors some of the neighboring communities. Just a short distance from Redondo (adjacent to North Redondo Beach) is the most sought after of all the beach towns……Manhattan Beach. From beachfront homes on The Strand, to the charming downtown area with chic shops and restaurants, to the iconic pier, to the world renowned beach and award winning schools…..Manhattan Beach is simply spectacular.
Manhattan Beach offers housing options from multi-million dollar mansions on the world famous “Strand” to wonderful cottages on tree lined streets. Manhattan Beach real estate is generally comprised of 5 very distinct “sections”. All of these neighborhoods are part of the award winning Manhattan Beach Unified School District but each has a very different atmosphere that appeals to people with varying priorities.
Manhattan Beach real estate consists of 5 somewhat distinct areas or neighborhoods, each generally served by a different elementary school and each having features to offer home buyers.
The sand section is the area furthest west and closest to the beach. It stretches from El Segundo in the north in the neighborhood of El Porto to Hermosa Beach in the south. This is true coastal living as it’s just east of the beach with endless outdoor activities. Homes and townhomes often enjoy panoramic ocean views and some sit oceanfront on the famous Manhattan Beach Strand. Another housing highlight is the “walkstreet” homes of Manhattan in which homes front a pedestrian sidewalk instead of a street making for a very safe and friendly environment.
The Manhattan Beach hill section has the best of all worlds with often estate style lots which allow for luxury homes with extensive outdoor areas that often also enjoy stunning ocean and Catalina views. This area is home to some of the most expensive houses and properties ever sold in the city.
Sitting just east of the sand section and offering a great community feel, the tree section has the most “neighborhood” feel of all of the areas and sections. Lots in this area are a bit smaller than the hill section, but significantly larger than the sand sections, so yards are not as expansive but large enough that even larger new construction homes have small front and back yards. This part of Manhattan generally does not allow for townhomes or condos so the single family only zonings makes for a quiet and safe feel of the area allows for a real community feel.
Manhattan Village is fairly unique for the Beach Cities as it’s a true gated planned developement community. This area offers the same great schools and services but has a very distinct look and feel. The community is located east of Sepulveda Blvd offers three types of homes….court homes, townhomes, and single family estate homes….all with multiple floorplans and layouts.
East Manhattan includes several smaller neighborhoods of Liberty Village, Liberty Heights and the Mira Costa area. Homes are often on either 50×100 foot lots or 50×150 foot lots and are highly sought after by builders…which also means an abundance of new construction supply that never seems to be enough. This area is the most affordable of all the neighborhoods in Manhattan and the large lots make for big homes and big yards.
